Kefir Games is an international game development studio with a global community (100+ million players). DKP is an internal mobile application for Kefir studio employees (500+ MAU). It combines social, learning, and bonus features with gamification elements.
My Role
When I joined the team, the application had an outdated interface with fragmented user experience, which made it difficult to maintain and develop further. The goal was to refresh the product, improve usability, and prepare the platform for new features planned by the business.
Stage 1 — UX Audit & Diagnosis
Conducted a comprehensive UX audit of the existing mobile app. Mapped the product — 150+ screens — to understand the complete user journey and identify inconsistencies. Used user feedback and usability heuristics to locate key friction points. Compiled a UX improvement roadmap, prioritizing issues that impacted engagement and task completion.
Stage 2 — Redesign & Implementation
Designed a new, consistent visual and interaction system for the app. Introduced a component-based approach and adaptive layouts for better scalability. Updated key user scenarios and flows to reduce friction and improve clarity. Set up a design review process to ensure UI quality and accuracy before production.
Stage 3 — Implementation & Production Rollout
Worked closely with developers: organized sync meetings, clarified component behavior, and adapted designs to technical constraints. Oversaw design delivery through release and post-launch support. Introduced a design review process, verifying layouts before production. Within a year, ~85% of planned improvements were released to production.
Impact
Established a solid design foundation that enabled new feature development. Improved engagement metrics: article and news views increased by 30–40%, and saves grew by ~10%. Reduced design–dev friction and ensured consistent visual quality through structured review processes.
